weblog.cemper.com:
I cannot even remember when last this thing validated correctly, Sauce Reader, Sharpreader, Newzcrawler, nothing will view it. Does people not check their own RSS feeds?
The Story of Feedster:
For ages now the RSS links provided on the frontpage of this blog all return one word – “hi” – this is a blog by a company that specialises in a search engine for RSS feeds, you would think they would get it right?
London Underground Diary‘s Feedster built feed:
This is yet another example of Feedster just not working as advertised, introduction of RSS search by Google is well overdue! Instead I will use either the RSS feed or the Atom Feed – assuming I go back to using Newzcrawler.
Feedster Blog of the Day:
While this is a handy little function that I quite enjoy, the fact that this feed shows a entry in it as updated or new when the blog updates – not when the entry in this list gets changed – means that old stuff keep bubbling to the top and annoy me, be gone.

I made some changes to my RSS feeds, I split Photography and non Photography related stuff while still providing the old unified RSS feed. I will be posting more stuff that’s purely photography related and wanted to give people who do not share the interest a chance to easily ignore it.

Six Apart has again made more changes to their licencing in response to recent community outrage. This time they seem to have gotten things better, I would be quite happy to buy a Unlimited Personal Edition from them for $99 this will allow me to run unlimited blogs with unlimited authors for non commercial use.
The licence will allow for unlimited free updates in the 3.x branch, support via their ticketing and so forth. Nice going.

My recent investigation into localised news feeds missed out on Topix.net, it looks like a very high quality source for localised news also providing RSS feeds. This was mentioned on Lockergnome today
To ensure proper placement of each story, the Topix.net categorization process is multi-faceted. For each story reviewed, the content of the story is geo-coded to determine where the event took place and/or the location of those involved in the story. It is then further categorized as to the subject matter involved. Once this categorization process has run, the story is then placed on the appropriate web-page(s). For instance, should a news source release a story about a speech Warren Buffet gives in San Jose, CA, our crawlers will read that story and then properly categorize it. As a result, the story will be available to users who access the San Jose, CA Topix.net page, as well those who access our Berkshire Hathaway page, and, depending on the magnitude of the story, perhaps the business page as well.
Sample pages: South Africa
and Sci/Tech
.
So far it looks good, no ads etc, looks like I found my new favorite world news provider.

Noticed this on the Slashdot front page – a great little site that hosts a database of community style logins to online newspaper sites.
BugMeNot.com was created as a mechanism to quickly bypass the login of web sites that require compulsory registration and/or the collection of personal/demographic information (such as the New York Times).
You just type in the URL for the site you require a login for and it shows it if they have one in their DB, else you can add it. Check it out there is even a Firefox plugin that I must still give a try.
