It happens to everyone, while taking your photos you think they will come out great, and when you eventually get the prints back, or download the images you find they are washed out and totally dissapointing.

I found a technique for bringing out low-lights, towning down high-lights while keeping saturated color called contrast masking while reading dpreview forums. It works really well and decided to write a better tutorial on it than the rather quick and dirty found here

I bought the Coolpix 5700, its a very good camera but I must say Nikon must be kidding with the accessories, especially considering the ยฃ820 price tag.
They give a 16Mb Memory Card with a 5 Megapixels camera, that is completely useless.
The strap supplied with the camera is short and rather rough, it used to srape my neck and hurt all the time. The end result is that I am now in the market for a new neck strap, and this seems to be a trial and error process. What I would really like is a strap with a swivel connector to prevent the constant twisting.

Photoshop has a very usefull tool called layer masks. If you have ever wanted to emphasize the focal point of your image by making just that color and the rest black and white then this is the tool for you. Read on for a tutorial on using this usefull tool.
